With the recent launch of our four highest performing gaming mice to date, it may have left some of you wondering – what’s the difference between the Model O 2 Wireless and the Model O 2 PRO? In this article, we’ll dive into the key differences between the mice, what common ground they share, and which might be the best choice for you. So if you're on the fence about which to pick, or are simply curious about their unique features, here's your in-depth guide to understanding these glorious gadgets.

The First Question Is: What Kind of Gamer Are You?

Before diving deep into their specifics, let's highlight whom each mouse is targeted towards.

The Model O 2 Wireless is perfect for casual gamers who enjoy their favorite titles during their free time. This mouse offers a well-rounded set of features that are perfect for both work and play, given its incredible battery life (more on that later). Whether you're a weekend warrior or enjoy a good gaming session after school or work, this device promises to serve you well.

Model O 2 PRO is built for the die-hard gamers. For those who crave the adrenaline rush and demand the utmost speed and power, the Model O 2 PRO is a precision instrument tailored for tournament-grade performance.

Aesthetics and Design

One of the most noticeable differences lies in their design and aesthetics. While both models boast a sleek design, they have evident distinctions.

The Model O 2 Wireless features customizable RGB lighting. If you're someone who loves color in your setup, this might be your preferred pick. It comes with 8 pre-installed lighting effects you can toggle between without software, or customize to your exact preference using Glorious CORE. Like the original Model O, the O 2 features a perforated shell, available in either black or white.

The Model O 2 PRO, on the other hand, takes a more minimalist approach. Its shell is completely enclosed, to give the mouse a more premium, textured finish. The RGB lighting feature has been removed to make it as light as possible. This could be an advantage for gamers who prioritize agility over aesthetics.

Battery Life and Connectivity Explained

The Model O 2 features three modes of connectivity: 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth Mode, and Wired Mode. The 2.4GHz wireless mode ensures a lag-free and seamless experience with its included USB receiver. Bluetooth mode allows you to extend your battery life up to 210 hours between charges when RGB is turned off. The fact that it has Bluetooth connectivity also means you can connect it to more devices, including tablets. Lastly, wired mode lets you easily charge while you play using the included ultra-flexible Ascended paracord cable.

The Model O PRO has the same blazing-fast 2.4GHz wireless connectivity, but does not feature Bluetooth to keep it ultralight weight. Battery life lasts up to 80 hours, and you are also able to play while you charge using the included ultra-flexible Ascended paracord cable.

For those who are leaning more towards the O 2 PRO 4K/8K Editions, it’s important to note that when playing at a 4,000 Hz polling rate, the battery may last only up to 35 hours. Playing at 8,000 Hz is only available in wired mode.

Performance and Durability

When it comes to performance, both mice are close contenders, but with some significant differences.

Both mice feature our BAMF 26K 2.0 sensor. This next-generation sensor guarantees flawless tracking performance with its 26,000 max DPI, 650 IPS speed, and 50G acceleration. Designed with Motion Sync Technology, gamers can enjoy smooth, jitter-free gameplay. Motion Sync ensures a tight synchronization between your PC and mouse, resulting in seamless cursor movements.

The key difference lies in the switches. The Model O 2 Wireless houses our Glorious Mechanical Switches, which sustain a reliable lifespan of 80 million clicks for ensured longevity and durability.

The Model O 2 PRO’s switches take it up a notch (or two). The PRO Mice Series debuts our new Glorious Optical Switches, which push the envelope further to a 100-million-click lifespan rating. These optical switches are not only built to last longer, but are also designed with infrared technology. That means each click is registered with infrared light, which requires no physical contact with the switch. When a click is made, the infrared light signals the mouse to operate in just 0.2ms (whereas mechanical ones take 1 millisecond or longer). This can be a game-changer, especially in competitive gameplay scenarios where every millisecond counts.

Model O 2 Wireless vs The Model O 2 PRO: The Verdict

At the end of the day, your choice between the Model O 2 Wireless and Model O 2 PRO boils down to personal preference and gaming needs.

If you’re a casual gamer, looking for a mix of aesthetic brilliance, performance and productivity use, the Model O 2 Wireless is a compelling choice. However, if you’re a hardcore gamer seeking the highest competitive edge, the Model O 2 PRO stands as a more formidable contender.

Whatever your choice, one thing is certain – with either mouse in your arsenal, you're gearing up for a truly Glorious gaming experience.
