The PC industry has evolved so much over the past 20 years. The same is true for the PC gaming scene. Elements and design choices in games that seemed revolutionary less than 20 years ago are nowadays taken for granted. But of course, it wasn't always easy. One need only mention the impact of the console industry and all the efforts it has made in order to present itself as "superior". Fortunately, very few gamers believe that console gaming is the ultimate choice to this day. Still, we feel like it's our duty to remind you why PC is better than console gaming. Here are only some of the main reasons why you should always choose PC over consoles.

Why PC is better than console gaming - key reasons

  • Getting a console killer is cheaper (or a tiny bit more expensive) than buying current-gen consoles

Now that the mining craze is finally over and the GPU prices have fallen, it's perfectly safe to say that investing in a good gaming rig won't cost you an arm and a leg. In fact, a bit of googling will show you that there are decent and cheap battlestations to be found everywhere (for as cheap as $200). For example, $400 will get you a gaming PC that can outperform every current-gen console. What's even better, there's room for potential upgrades, which is not something that can be said for consoles.

  • Steam is the undisputed king of video game digital distribution platforms

You may not agree with all of Steam's policies. You may question the quality of some (indie) titles that appear out of nowhere. But you also have to agree that there is no other video game platform like it. With over 20.500 games released and 125 million registered users (numbers that are constantly on the rise), it's clear that the platforms used by consoles will probably never reach the heights of Steam. Not to mention that Steam sales are better by a mile, even though Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have been trying to catch up.

  • Console exclusives are not so exclusive anymore

Yes, we're aware there's still the occasional God of War or Uncharted title. And yes, they are good games. But think about it: would you really spend money on a brand new console just so you can play a few "exclusives"? The truth is that companies eventually port most of these titles to PC, and even polish them and make them better overall. Hence, there's no need to feel bad about not being able to play a good console exclusive or two. Ultimately, all you need to do is think about all the sweet PC exclusives you can play whenever you want. And their number is much bigger.

  • Mods, mods, mods...

This is pretty much self-explanatory. The PC gaming community is a passionate one. Whenever we see a great game, it's our solemn duty to try and make it even better. The result? Thousands and thousands of fantastic and innovative mods that add improved graphics, as well as new levels, items, enemies and other extras that downright take the base game to the next level. 100 mods for Skyrim, anyone?

  • Higher framerates and resolutions

Stable 60 fps. 1080p. 1440p. 4k. 8k. Dream on, consoles!

  • PC games are backwards compatible

Whenever a new console is announced, one of the main questions is whether that console will offer backwards compatibility, i.e. play games from older console generations. PC gamers simply don't have this problem. If a game is available on PC, you can play it, even if it was released 15 or even 25 years ago. Granted, some very old games may prove challenging to run on modern systems, but there are online guides and tweaks that can help you with this. There's also GoG, a platform responsible for bringing hundreds of old games up-to-date and re-releasing titles that used to be treated as abandonware.

  • You can use your gaming PC as a multimedia device and а workstation, too

Work all day, play games all night. Or play games all day, work all night. Or play games all day, watch your favorite shows all night. The choice is yours. What's even better, you only need one PC to do all that. Your battlestation can provide you with both means of earning money and entertainment. And then, you can use said money to upgrade to an even better rig. As simple as that.

  • You can decorate your battlestation with the best gaming accessories and peripherals

As natural as segues can get. Once you're done with the PC vs console gaming debate and you're happy with the core of your gaming rig, it's time to think about some essential "decoration". For instance, why not consider getting the world's first modular mechanical keyboard? You might also want the biggest gaming mousepad in existence. Oh, and don't forget to choose the ideal wrist rest that will keep your wrists safe and sound. You can buy all these gaming accessories (and more) from our website.
