How to Replace the GMMK PRO Switch Plate

HOW-TO

Replace the GMMK PRO Switch Plate

Overview

The GMMK PRO comes with an aluminum switch plate installed, which can be easily be swapped for brass or polycarbonate. Polycarbonate provides a more soft and flexible typing feel that produces a deeper sound. Brass is more rigid and creates a higher pitch in comparison.

What's in the Box?
• 1× Glorious Switch Plate

Tools Needed
• Phillips #00 Screwdriver
• Tweezers (optional)
• Sorting Dishes for Screws (optional)

Instructions

1. Unplug your keyboard and keep it unplugged throughout this process.

2. Remove all keycaps and switches from the GMMK PRO and pull out the rotary knob.

3. Flip over the keyboard. Remove the 8 screws on the bottom using a Phillips head screwdriver.

4. Carefully separate the bottom chassis from the rest of the keyboard, ensuring that the wire connecting the USB-C PCB to the main PCB is not damaged.

5. Hold the chassis in place, close to the rest of the keyboard, and unplug the USB-C PCB from the main PCB.

6. Separate the main PCB and the switch plate from the top shell. The top shell is screwed onto the bottom chassis and should come off without any resistance.

7. Unscrew the 18 screws that hold the main PCB and the switch plate together.

8. Replace the switch plate with the desired one and screw it back into the main PCB.

9. Reassemble the rest of the keyboard by plugging back in the USB-C PCB (ensuring correct orientation) and replacing the top plate and bottom chassis.

10. Reinstall the switches, keycaps, and rotary knob.
