The Glorious Modular Mechanical Keyboard is one of our most popular products and there are good reasons for it. It's a keyboard that lets you change switches and keycaps "on the go". It also has a minimalist design that many find irresistible. Last but not least, it lets you play with the RGB settings and create a Glorious glowing effect.
So, seeing that the interest in the GMMK is huge, it's only natural that we get a lot of questions daily. That's why we decided to answer some of the most common ones in this article.
Can I buy the Glorious Modular Mechanical Keyboard without switches and keycaps?
You can! Choose the "customized" option and select "none" for both keycaps and switches. This way, you will only get the board and nothing else. :)
Is the GMMK cable removable?
Only the TKL and Compact variant of the GMMK come with a removable micro-USB cable. The full-size one has a non-removable braided USB cable.
Can the GMMK be used with Cherry MX switches?
Yes. Even though we sell Gateron and Kailh switches (Cherry clones) on our website, the GMMK was designed with Cherry MX in mind. So all switches that are considered identical or similar alternatives should work without a problem.
Which switches do you recommend? Gateron or Kailh?

Can I use other keycaps than the ones you sell on your website?
Yes. Most keycaps will work without any problems. Just make sure they got the standard layout and standard bottom row.
Is it difficult to replace switches and keycaps?
It's actually incredibly easy. The GMMK comes with all the tools you need to do this, as well as the instructions. Plus, there are always YouTube videos that can help you.
Is the GMMK compatible with Mac?
While you cannot install the GMMK software on a Mac, you can still use the GMMK and its basic features. Check this manual for keyboard shortcuts that may come in handy.
The scroll lock LED doesn't work. Can I get a refund?
This is a common misconception. We don't have a scroll lock LED on our keyboard. We replaced it with Windows lock. Press FN + Win to lock/unlock the Win key on your keyboard. Locking the Win button will activate the Win Lock LED.
The GMMK software doesn't start. Is it broken?
Based on customer feedback, in more than 90% of the cases, you should run it as an administrator and make sure you've created an exception in Windows Firewall.
Do I need to order the cool red "ASCEND" key separately?
No. The GMMK you order will always come with an extra ASCEND key, as well as the original "ESC" key.

I just got my GMMK TKL barebones keyboard in the mail today. I fully built the keyboard with some Akko cs ocean blue switches and matcha keycaps. The board looks and sounds absolutely incredible, but my only problem is that I cannot get the capslock indicator to turn on no matter what I do. This isn’t the biggest problem for me since I rarely use the caps lock key, but it is still annoying when I accidentally fat-finger it and I start to type in all caps. This may just be me being stupid, but I would like for some assistance to get the caps lock indicator to function properly.

Is there a good alternative software for controlling the LED’s on my GMMK attached to an iMac?
On my gmmk tenkeyless, whenever I hit the down arrow key my keyboard changes colors, and both the red lights appear. After hitting this button for a while it takes me back to where you log in to your computer. How can I fix this problem? This happens even when I am playing games.
Does it still have RGB lighting if I purchase just the compact board and nothing else? I am going to use install my own switches and keycaps but I don’t know if the board will still have the RGB lighting on it.
The GMMK software really needs an overhaul. Or in the very least add the functionality to the Glorious Core software to recognize the GMMK keyboards and be able to make changes.
Hello, I am thinking about doing some modding to the gmmk to make it sound as good as possible, so I was wondering, is it safe for the board to take it apart into all of its components?

I was wondering what the keyboard lights would look like with non transparent switches (some switches are fully black/white, some are transparent only on the top) since the lights are useful to see which key is which when it shines through the key cap, haven’t found video or pictures online.

Hello, I had ordered a keyboard, along with switches and keycaps knowing I have to assemble it myself, but upon it coming to my house, I had only got the keyboard with no switches or keycaps at all. Can you please contact me to let me know if they either got lost in shipping or something
