UT Dallas introduces new esports program with Glorious as its sponsor
October 14, 2018
The eSports scene is worth billions of dollars, and as things stand, it's very likely that it will continue to grow. League of Legends, Dota 2, CS: GO, PUBG, StarCraft II, Overwatch, Rocket League... these are just some of the games that have helped eSports evolve at an unprecedented rate. Top players are earning more money than one could've possibly imagined several years ago. That's why it comes as no (big) surprise that some universities are introducing eSports programs in their athletic departments. One such university is UT Dallas, and it is with great pride that we announce that we're one of its sponsors.
What does it mean to be sponsoring the UT Dallas eSports program?
In our case, it means that we're supplying the university with Glorious Modular Mechanical Keyboards, as well as (extra) large mousepads and Tridents. In return, we expect nothing less than witnessing the "birth" of some future stars in competitive gaming.
As for the university, there's already a "gaming" arena where up to 24 people can train simultaneously. Currently, the games included in the eSports program are League of Legends and Overwatch. There's also a head coach with experience in coaching online teams and hosting tournaments. Oh, and here's an amusing bit - other than students who play the games (i.e. team members), the program requires that others apply for positions like assistant coaches, analysts, etc. All things considered, it's clear that UT Dallas is taking its new program very seriously, and we couldn't be happier about it.
It's all fun and games when students play with the GMMK
